Vista Rock

Vista Rock is a rock located in Central Park, Manhattan, New York, United States. Made of schist, it is one of the park's highest natural elevations[1] with Summit Park, as it stands 130 feet.[2] At the core of Central Park, Vista Rock offers a clear view on the Turtle Pond, Great Lawn and Delacorte Theater. In 1867, one of the designers of Central Park, Calvert Vaux, decided to develop this area by building Belvedere Castle on the top of the rock.[3]
